Toronto opened up a 4 game series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday with a 7-1 victory. The win is the Jays 2nd in a row and it now has their record at an even 25-25.
The offense had one of their better games this season compiling 10 hits and getting 4 of their RBI from one bat. Marco Scutaro had a great game for Toronto going 2-for-4 with 4 RBI. The RBI bring his season total to 16 and his batting average now stands at a respectable .270. Lyle Overbay also had a nice game for the club going 3-for-3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. His season total for RBI now sit at 16 as well and his batting average is .287. Alex Rios also participated with a RBI going 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. He has his batting average at .263 and his RBI total up to 19.
Roy Halladay took the mound for the Blue Jays and pitched so well that manager John Gibbons decided to let him go the duration. Halladay pitched all 9 innings allowing just 4 hits, 1 run, no walks and 5 strike outs. He earned the win for the Jays bringing his record to 5-5 this season and his ERA to a very solid 3.11. This is exactly the kind of start you want to get from your ace and hopefully we see more to come.
Not a bad game for the Jays as they pretty much dominated every aspect of the game. They will now look forward to game 2 on Saturday at 1pm.
