Strong 2nd Leads Jay’s to Win, 9-4

The Blue Jays got a very impressive win on Sunday against the Phillies putting together 15 hits and a 6 run 2nd inning. Young gun Jesse Litsch was given the start for Toronto and had a very good showing going 4 innings deep giving up only 2 hits, 1 run and striking out 6. He earned the win for the Jays bringing his spring training record to 1-2 and Toronto’s overall spring ball record to 4-7. Mike Gosling also had a couple of strong innings for the Jays only giving up 1 hit and 1 run, which was a homer to Phillie 3rd basemen Pedro Feliz.

Vernon Wells had a very strong showing on the offensive side going 2-for-3 with 4 RBI. The RBI came from a couple of 2 run singles helping Toronto build their lead. Aaron Hill gave a solid effort as well with 2 hits, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and a double off Phillie starter Kyle Kendrick. Toronto put together a solid effort from all aspects of the game on Sunday earning this win with a final score of 9-4.

Next up: Toronto will go on the road to face the Houston Astros on Monday at 1:05. Houston ace Roy Oswalt will face Toronto’s go to guy Roy Halladay.
